Buddha and Sabra

Buddha and Sabra
Hi. My name is Buddha Bunny. I'm the very handsome brown and white neutered boy. I have been told that I am an incredibly smart rabbit, which is true of course , but I am also a wonderful "hus-bun" to my bunny bride Sabra. Both of us had sad starts in life and it took me a long time to learn to relax, trust and snuggle. My foster mom used to take long naps with me on the sofa and I finally learned how wonderful it felt to be snuggled and kissed. I still hate to be held, but I do enjoy sitting close to you on the sofa, or next to my bunny wife.
Once you win me over, you won't be disappointed. I'm extraordinary. My litter box habits are great. Sabra wants to tell you a bit about herself as well...
My name is Sabra. I'm a gorgeous gray and white Dutch mix girl who was named after the fruit of a cactus, because I am very sweet inside, despite a prickly and protective exterior.
Let me tell you my story and I hope that you will take the time to meet me and uncover what a special and gentle soul I really am. Buddha was patient and gentle with me and now we are deeply bonded for life.
My human guardian died and left me in the care of relatives who while not intentionally neglectful, did not know how to care for a rabbit.
For many months I lived alone outside in a wire pen among discarded broken dishes and garbage. I hid myself in the blackberry thickets, so that no one could hurt me.
I always had water, but sometimes food was hard to come by. My human caregivers did not understand how to handle rabbits and they were afraid of me, so I had little human contact for a long time.
As I lived alone outside in all kinds of weather, I grew frightened and retreated to being afraid of people. I missed being loved, but my daily life had become so sad and scary, that I stopped trusting people.
When I was rescued by SaveABunny, my rescuer had to literally crawl over broken glass and through the thickets to get me.
I made the scariest noises I could come up with to protect myself and opened my mouth wide to show my teeth.
Luckily, they knew that I was just a terrified little girl and as they reached out to get me, I did not bite. Instead, I closed my eyes and braced for the worst...
I soon found myself at a safe new place where people talked nicely to me and fed me all kinds of fresh delicious food. I had a special place to hide when I felt overwhelmed and learned how wonderful it felt to be a treasured house rabbit.
Much as I sometimes try to hide it, I even enjoy being petted a little bit. It sure feels nice to be treated with such compassion. I am a very lucky bunny. Buddha and I are both very happy and contented bunnies. We would love to find a forever home where we will have a lot of indoor room to run and play and someone who respects our quiet, loving, yet independent nature.
We would be a good choice for experienced bunny lovers who enjoy watching rabbits live and love at their true nature.
