MEDIA ALERT: Large-Scale, Pre-Easter Rabbit Dumping Signifies Worse to Come for Saving Lives of Bay Area Bunnies
SaveABunny Works with Bay Area Animal Shelters to Drive Awareness of Abandoned Rabbits at a Critical Time of Year
March 6, 2008 – SaveABunny (http://www.saveabunny.org), a Northern California nonprofit animal rescue group is leading a Bay Area Adoption drive to counteract emergency overcrowding caused primarily by the surrender of 28 rabbits by one person at San Francisco Animal Care and Control.
Several rabbits required humane euthanasia due to the extent of their wounds; others needed immediate veterinary attention and are now in rescue at SaveABunny. Volunteers at SaveABunny and animal shelter staff are working together to find adopters and foster homes to help save the lives of the rabbits. Persons interested donating and assisting with this large –scale rescue should contact SaveABunny directly at www.saveabunny.org.
The founder of SaveABunny, Marcy Schaaf, is available for interviews to discuss the bigger issue of rabbit rescue in the Bay Area, particularly as we move into the pre-Easter period. We are also happy to provide access to house rabbit owners in the Bay Area to educate animal lovers about living with a house rabbit as well as highlight the opportunity to rescue one of the thousands of rabbits in shelters around the state.
